COVID-19 Restrictions Update February 9, 2021
On February 9, 2021, the Government of Manitoba announced new public health orders. Included in these new orders is that places of worship are allowed to hold regular religious services if a service does not exceed 10% of usual capacity or 50 people, whichever is lower.
This means that Holy Redeemer Parish will be re-opening this weekend, with scheduled Masses at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday February 13, 2021, and 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday February 14, 2021.
Per the government restrictions, we are only allowed 35 people at each Mass, including the priest.
If you would like to attend Mass this weekend, please contact:
Leigh at the office by telephone at 204-669-0501 or by email at: office@hrwpg.ca or Sister Maria by email at: ciccarellim@shaw.ca
Please provide the first and last name of all who will be attending, a telephone number for each attendee and what Mass you would like to attend (Sat 5:00 p.m., Sun 9:00 a.m. or Sun 10:30 a.m.) and we will add the names to the Mass list. Please remember that we are only allowed 35 people per Mass and we will sign names up on a first come basis. For this reason, we recommend that people sign up as soon as they can.
All protocols remain in place, including two-meter physical distancing and obligatory masks. Please also remember to sit only at the pre-measured marked number seats. Please arrive at least 5 – 10 minutes before Mass to ensure that the Greeter can check you in by the time Mass begins. Doors will be locked once Mass begins to ensure we do not go above the allowed numbers.
Thank you.
Father Chukwudi Jieme, is a congregational priest who belongs to the order of the Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy, (SMMM).
Father Chukwudi comes from Nigeria, and has been in Canada for about 5 years… ministering in the Toronto area and in the Sagkeeng First Nation area…Presently, he is studying at the University of Manitoba to get his Masters in Peace & Conflict Resolution.
With the loss of Father Owen, who was called home to God so suddenly and unexpectedly, we are very grateful to Father Chukwudi for saying yes to Archbishop LeGatt, in accepting to serve for a few months as Priest Moderator here at Holy Redeemer…hopefully until the end of May… at which time, upon the request of his religious superior, he will leave to serve in another diocese in Ontario.
It has been so delightful to learn that the names of our Nigerian brothers and sisters, have a special and beautiful meaning. “Chukwudi” means “God is” … And yes, God is truly present through him…through a wonderful priest who is young & energetic & eager to serve!
We are extremely grateful to Father Chukwudi for saying “yes” to God; and we welcome him very warmly during this time of deep-freeze Arctic temperatures as he begins with eagerness his service here at Holy Redeemer!
Thank-You, Father Chukwudi!
